Energy Conservation
New construction uses enormous natural resources. Conservation is necessary to leave the same beautiful planet we enjoy for future generations. At JNC Development we conserve resources; in the design, in the types of materials we use, and in the way we use those materials.
During the design, we employ a concept called "Value Engineering." Value engineering is a method wherein construction material is saved by slightly modifying the dimensions of a building, and relocating its structural members. A room that is a few inches larger or smaller appears the same, but is radically different in its construction. A value engineered home often saves tens of thousands of dollars in material and construction costs.
We use state-of-the art materials whenever possible. In the framing, we use materials that reduce the volume of old-growth lumber in our projects. We also use building materials that out-perform traditional materials, extending the useful life of the structure. Finally, we use materials that conserve energy, and improve the inside air quality -- energy use is lower, and the home's occupants are healthier and more comfortable.
At JNC Development, our employees are taught the adage, "Waste not, want not." A new home generates many tons of waste during its construction. We try to use as much of this "waste" as we are able. A 12-inch 2x4 may appear to be trash, but if it is sorted properly, it can be used somewhere. We teach concepts such as this to all of our team members.
Energy conservation is important to us, but we only implement these innovations after the technology is proven and the benefits outweigh the cost. Since we embrace the ever-changing conditions of our industry, if you are interested in applying a new technology to your project, we are interested.
