Reno Rodeo
The wildest, richest rodeo in the West: The Reno Rodeo, from June 19 - June 28, 2008, where you can see cowboys from all over the country compete in rodeo events such as steer wrestling, barrel races, team roping, reined horse competition and more. Fun for the whole family, there are events for the kids as well. Don't miss the rodeo this year!
Reno Is Artown 2008
Artown brings the outer reaches of imagination to the center of attention in a calendar noted by the National Endowment for the Arts as one of the country's most comprehensive festivals. Each July, Artown asks you to leave the beaten path for arts unknown, to join distinguished artists from down the street and around the world for a month-long celebration of cultural diversity and artistic innovation. Hot August Nights
From August 2 - August 10, 2008, Hot August Nights lets you show off your Chevy, your Deuce Coupe or your hot rod in the Reno-Sparks' celebration of America's favorite 50's and 60's car event. As baby boomers come to relive their past, those who didn't experience the 50's and '60s firsthand have just as much fun in this "blast from the past" event each year. There are cruises, swap meets, auctions and a prom to attend. Be there or be square.
The Nevada State Fair August 20 - 24, 2008

The Best In The West Nugget Rib Cook-Off Sparks/Reno, Nevada
This year's Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off is set for Labor Day weekend, August 27 through September 1, 2008. Labor Day weekend is the unofficial end of summer and for eighteen years John Ascuaga's Nugget has been celebrating with the country's largest barbecue. Reno Balloon Races
Always scheduled for the first Friday thru Sunday after Labor Day, The Great Reno Balloon Race will be held this year from September 5 - September 7, 2008. When the air is beginning to release hints of fall, you will see acres of fabric billowing, gently introducing panels of vibrant color into the landscape. Next, the hot air expands the material and the liftoff begins, and your spirits will ascend with the hot-air balloons as they take flight into the sky.
